To help students (and their parents) prepare for the start of a new school year, several local merchants teamed up last Tueday to offer their services, knowledge and tips during an event held in Malverne.

The Back-to-School Extravaganza hosted by Schwartz Family Chiropractic on Hempstead Avenue featured several businesses in the village, including the newly opened E.nopi Learning Center, Smiles on Broadway Family Dentistry, the Yoga and Polarity Center and TeleTechie. Nearby CATS (Childrens Athletic Training School) and Spark Development Center were also on-hand to explain their services.

Throughout the day, the merchants stopped by to share their expertise with local families, holding a special yoga for kids class, providing learning resources for the new year and offering tips to keep students safe while doing homework online.

Nutritionist Tina Stevens served up healthy snack ideas, Dr. Pennie Schwartz provided backpack screenings and Project H.O.T. S.H.O.T.S. also held a school supplies drive for local families in need.

Check out the photos from the event.
