Nassau County issued a road advisory Monday morning urging residents to avoid traveling, as the blowing and drifting snow left behind by Sunday's blizzard has created dangerous conditions.
"Numerous vehicles are stuck or are being abandoned on roads and ramps," stated the e-mail alert. "This situation can impede plowing operations and can potentially delay emergency operations response."
The County strongly advises that only essential personnel - police, fire, medical, utility and road maintenance crews - venture out on the roadways at this time until they are cleared.
The NOAA-National Weather Service has extended the blizzard warning until noon on Monday.
