After a three-day weekend, it's back to business in West Hempstead, where the local merchants will meet tonight. In Malverne, Crossroads Farm is prepping for the upcoming Fall Festival by recruiting volunteers, and throughout the area, Nassau County begins work to control possible rabied raccoons.

  1. Chamber of Commerce: The West Hempstead Chamber of Commerce will meet tonight at on Hempstead Avenue at 6 p.m. Special guest speaker Ron Gold will discussing the "Art of Networking To Grow Your Business.” for more details.

  3. Volunteers Needed: The Nassau Land Trust is looking for help for the upcoming Fall Festival at Crossroads Farm. To get involved email volunteer@nassaulandtrust.org with your availability. There will also be a volunteer meeting at 6 p.m. at the farm in Malverne.

  5. Raccoon Rabies Baiting: In response to a recent rabies report in Queens, the Nassau County Department of Health, in conjunction with Cornell University, will begin distributing the raccoon rabies vaccine in the northwestern portion of the Nassau County Tuesday. Click here for details.
