On the Farm: Oodles of Apples, Pumpkins and More Fall Favorites

See what's growing, selling and happening this week at Nassau County's Crossroads Farm, located in Malverne.

Sure summer is fun but with it's sunny but cool weather, beautiful foiliage and great seasonal produce, how can you not fall in love with Fall?

At Crossroads Farm at Grossmann's, Nassau County's farm located at the intersection of Ocean and Hempstead Avenues in Malverne, you'll find the best of what autumn has to offer. This week at the farm stand there are baskets upon baskets overflowing with all kinds of apples, pumpkins and gourds in all shapes and sizes, and freshly made pies and cider.

The apples, along with peaches, come from Wickhams Fruit Farm. The cider and pies - available in apple, blueberry, crumb, pecan, pumpkin and other varieties - are delivered from Jericho Cider Mill. And there's other great finds that have been brought in from farms around Long Island, including free-range eggs, cow and goat cheese, spinach, lettuce, potatoes, mums, rosemary, parsley, honey, Indian corn and ornamental plants.

Fall Festival

The annual Malverne Fall Festival is also rapidly approaching and Crossroads is planning on hosting many activities at the farm that day including pumpkin picking, hay rides, live music, corn roasting, garlic planting, games, sheep sheering, antique fire trucks, fashioned push-pull engines and more. Mark your calendar for Oct. 23.

We'll see you next Friday for our weekly "virtual' visit to the farm. Enjoy your weekend!
