Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

It’s finally Friday! Here are five things you should check out today in Lynbrook:

1. According to the National Weather Service, rain and a thunderstorm are likely today. The chance of precipitation will be around 80 percent, with rainfall amounts possibly totaling one inch. High temperature will be about 74 degrees.

2. Yesterday, Patch had a story on Sergeant Daniel Dillon, who was recognized by the Town of Hempstead on Sept. 20 for his work. He was presented with the 2011 Town of Hempstead Police Service Award and had his efforts as a member of the department highlighted at a ceremony. Find the full story .

3. In sports, Lynbrook High School’s at home today beginning at 4:15 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., catch the as they take on New Hyde Park High School.
