Shots Fired in West Hempstead Nightclub

Nassau County cops charge Huntington man for injuring two victims.

Shots were fired inside the in West Hempstead around 2 a.m. Sunday, leaving two victims wounded.

Nassau County Police report that Justin Lewis, 22, of Huntington, allegedly walked into the club located on Hempstead Turnpike on Jan. 30 after being asked to leave earlier in the night. Detectives with the Fifth Squad say Lewis returned with a black and silver handgun and fired two shots, one of which caused a victim to collapse.

Lewis allegedly fled through an alley, but officers caught up with him in a nearby parking lot and placed him under arrest.

They later discovered a second victim. The injured were transported to a local hospital, where one was treated for a wound to the abdomen and the other, for an injury to the neck. 

Lewis has been charged with two counts of Assault in the first degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree.
