Valley Stream Mom: An Introduction

I am humbled and honored that ValleyStreamMom.com has been invited to join the Patch.com family.  As a SAHM for 5.5 years, it’s great to be acknowledged and noticed.  You feel as if you’re forgotten at times when you leave the working world.  As a mother, I want my children to have the best childhood ever.  I want to expose them to the arts, sports, social activities, and everything in between.  After growing up in the Midwest, moving to Brooklyn and then to Valley Stream AND having only one family member nearby, I have to make sure they are well rounded individuals through parenting, exposure, and whatever else comes with childhood.  Like your child, mine didn’t come with a manual so I’m winging it while hoping not to screw up my kids.

I am the founder of ValleyStreamMom.com which just celebrated its 1 year anniversary.  I am publicist who is PR friendly so send me your items for review.  I am a former pageant coach/director for the Miss America pageant system, event planner, and have an organization that empowers teen girls through community service, education, philanthropy, and leadership development. I am also a tennis, dance, swim mom and soon to be “whatever” mom when my son is old enough to sign up for activities. I created this blog as a personal outlet of expression.  To make my voice heard on relevant matters from a mother’s perspective on everything.  I’m sure there’s more but I’m working at 50% after being awakened by my son three times last night due to night terrors.  I am tired. 

Blogging has taken me to the White House this past February where I sat amongst African American working and SAHMs, who are members of Mocha Moms Inc., for an historical mother’s briefing.  That was a huge deal for me.  You can see the details on the blog.  You may not always agree with some of my posts, but that’s okay.  We are all entitled to our opinion.  I have to tread lightly.  I am a politician’s wife and the daughter of a Pastor.  How did THIS happen?  LOL.  That alone says a lot.

While I do an occasional giveaway on my blog, I am not your typical Mommy Blogger.  Well, I try hard not to be.  I will try to my best to bring you posts and events no one else is posting.  I will give my outlook/opinion on things in the news.  I will share reviews with you wherever I go focusing on kid-friendly and relationship friendly.  I will discuss teen and parenting issues, and programs targeting children that are available by the current administration you may not know about.  I may also complain a little but I guarantee you, it will be entertaining.
