What's the Nicest Thing Someone Did for You During the Storm?

If someone went out of their way for you before, after, or during the storm, tell us about them.

As Thanksgiving approaches next week, it's a good time to take notice of the kind things we do for one another. With Superstorm Sandy having just occurred a few weeks ago, we were thinking about all the ways that neighbors have been helping neighbors, both near and far.

There were heroes right here in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook.

Do you have a story to share about something kind someone did for you? For your family member? For your friend? You don't necessarily have to use names — though we encourage you to recognize that special person. They deserve it, right? Share your stories in the comments below.

I would like to thank Gary at the Getty Station, corner of Broadway and Prospect for not price gouging. Price was the same before and after Sandy. Good man

The nicest thing done for us was having the good fortune of living in a community that is full of people motivated by compassion and kindness. There were hundreds of acts if giving and kindness towards families affected by Sandy. Living in a small town like Malverne gave us what seemed like a front row seat to what moves the human spirit to act in goodness. For that I am thankful today.
