A Bay Park man was killed early Sunday morning after he fell off his bike and was accidentally struck by a car, police said.

Jay Brown, 48, of Seawane Road, was riding his bicycle in the northbound center lane of Long Beach Road in Oceanside when a witness saw him fall off his bike. He was then struck by a 1998 Chevrolet white van driven by an Oceanside man, police said.

Brown was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, where he was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m. The van was impounded for a safety inspection, and detectives said there is no apparent criminality with the accident at this time.
