Crime Report: Attempted Robbery, Two Vehicles Damaged by Unknown Suspects

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.‬

Case Reports

  • On March 26 at 9:15 p.m., an attempted robbery occurred at Taft Ave and Leroy Place in Lynbrook, police said.    

        No weapons or physical force were used, and no one was reported injured. Police said the four subjects are male and in their 20s. The subjects fled in a dark-colored SUV with tinted windows, police added.

  • On March 29, a 1997 Plymouth Neon was reported damaged while parked in the driveway of a home on Ocean Avenue. Police say unknown subjects scratched the vehicle's paint, causing $1.000 in damage.
  • Between the hours of 11 p.m. on April 2 and 8:30 a.m. on April 3, the windows of a 2009 BMW were reported damaged while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of a Scranton Avenue home. The damage is estimated at $700.

  • On March 29 at 9:45 a.m., Julio Robles, 42 of College Point, N.Y., was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, driving with no insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle and improper registration plates.
  • On March 29 at 9:10 p.m., Yasmeen Ellison, 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with Petit Larceny, which took place at a Lynbrook drug store.
  • On April 1 at 1:10 p.m., Anthony Dicosola, 49, of Lynbrook, N.Y., was arrested on Rolling Street in Lynbrook and charged with Criminal Contempt of a court order.
  • On April 3 at 12:50 a.m., Steven Rambarran, 18, and a 16-year-old minor, both of Valley Stream, N.Y., were arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
  • On April 3 at 7:45 p.m., Howard Faust, 33, of Woodmere, N.Y., was arrested for Attempted Assault in the second degree, Menacing in the second degree and Possession of Weapon, on Marion Street in Lynbrook.
