Arrests

May 2 — at 12:10 a.m. John Gouzos, 35, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (two counts) and Petit Larceny on Union Avenue.

May 3 — at 9:03 p.m. Gregory Fontaine, 22, of Woodmere, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana on Broadway.

May 3 — at 11:27 p.m. Richard J. Pechia, 55, of Rosedale, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (warrant) and Failure to Signal on Ocean Avenue.

May 4 — at 2:10 a.m. Christopher M. DiGuseppe, 26, of Merrick, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (three counts) and Circumvention of Interlock Device on Franklin Avenue.

May 6 — at 6:15 p.m. Joseph Lorenzo, 42, of Franklin Square, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon on Ocean Avenue.

May 6 — at 8:22 p.m. James R. Conkling, 42, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated on Peninsula Boulevard.

May 7 — at 2:48 a.m. Edwin Maldonado Jr., 30, of Springfield Gardens, was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (two counts) at the Capri Motor Inn located at 5 Freer Street. The defendant left his 2-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son in their car while inside the motel with the mother of the children.

Case Reports

Petit Larceny — On May 1 at 6:50 p.m. a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) took their Apple iPhone, color white, from the Lynbrook High School cafeteria. The value of the phone is $500.

Identity Theft — On May 2 at 8:15 a.m. a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) did make four unauthorized charges on their Ridgewood Bank debit card. The charges totaled $608.

Robbery — On May 3 at 3:25 p.m. a complainant reports that while staying at the Holiday Inn Express, located at 1 Sunrise Highway, there was a knock at her door. The complainant answered the door thinking that it was her boyfriend when a male suspect pushed his way into the room. The suspect took $250 and the complainant's iPhone, valued at $400. The male is described as a light-skinned black male, short black hair, approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, stocky build, wearing black jeans, a black leather jacket and black and white Adidas sneakers.

Stalking — On May 4 at 2:50 p.m. a complainant reported that an acquaintance had been calling, texting and arriving at their residence after being asked to stop. The subject's actions have put the complainant in fear of their safety.
