Crime Report: Identity Theft, Petit Larceny

A look at recent crime and arrests as reported by the Lynbrook Police Department.

Case Reports 

Criminal Mischief – At 6:30pm on March 6, the complainant reports that their cell phone was damaged on Davison Ave.

Identity Theft – At 12:30pm on March 8, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) did open a credit card account using their name and charged $564.00 dollars to the account.

Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle – At 12:00pm on March 10, the complainant, Avis Car Rental located at 55 Sunrise Hwy, reports that their auto, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was rented on Dec. 26 and never returned by the customer.

Attempted Identity Theft - At 3:00pm on March 10, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) did attempt to gain access to two credit reports in the complainant’s name without their permission.

Petit Larceny - At 8:38pm on March 10, the complainant reports that their gold ring, valued at $400.00 dollars, and $25.00 in assorted currency was taken from their residence on Charles Street.

Petit Larceny - At 9:45pm on March 10, the complainant reports that two males entered their store, 7-11 169 Atlantic Ave, and removed two 18 packs of Bud Light beer at which time they exited the store without paying. The only description of the males was one wearing a black hoodie and one wearing a gray hoodie. The beer is valued at $38.72 dollars.  

Arrests 

March 7 at 9:40pm - Ryan Clark, 19, of Lynbrook, NY was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Watkins Place. 

March 7 at 9:40pm - John E. Colin, 19, of Lynbrook, NY was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Watkins Place. 

March 7 at 9:40pm -  William J. Flatley, 19, of East Atlantic Beach, NY was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Watkins Place. 

March 8 at 3:19am - Nicole Diiorio, 32, of Inwood, NY was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (warrant) on Peninsula Blvd. 

March 8 at 10:19pm - Carl L. Piro, 36, of Keansburg, NJ was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to stop at a stop sign on Lakeview Ave.

March 9 at 3:34pm - Thomas D. Lopez, 21, of Valley Stream, NY was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest on Roosevelt Ave. 

March 11 at 1:45pm - Dominic J. Anastasio, 23, of Lynbrook, NY was arrested and charged with uninsured motor vehicle (warrant) on Earle Ave.

March 12 at 12:01am - Jelani Fernado, 22, of Brooklyn, NY was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunrise Hwy.

The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
