Crime Watch: IHOP Burglary, Underage Alcohol Sales, Missing Bikes

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglaries

The IHOP restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead was reportedly burglarized on the night of July 17.

A home on Gehrig Avenue in Franklin Square was burglarized on the night of July 13. The victim reported that copper wiring had been removed from the house.

A home on Irving Street in North Valley Stream was burglarized at some point between July 3 and July 15.

Illegal Alcohol Sales

Police officers reportedly observed two men working at separate stores on Meacham Avenue in Elmont sell alcoholic beverages to underage customers on July 13. Cops say they saw Dimitri Cochran,  of  Brentwood, while working at the USA Gas Mini Mart, and Jose Ramos, of Queens, an employee at Eze’s Deli, each sell a single can of Coors Light to an underaged person.

While working at Elmont Wine and Liquor on Hempstead Turnpike, Thomas Jaimon, of Queens, was charged with after hours sale of alcoholic beverage. After receiving complaints from community members who said the store was selling liquor past the operating hours allowed by Nassau County (8 p.m.), officers paid a visit on July 13. They observed the store conduct multiple transactions between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. During this time, an officer entered the store and purchased one half pint of Jack Daniels. 

Grand Larcenies 

Five vehicles were reported stolen in Elmont between July 12 and July 17. They had been parked on Louis Avenue, Atherton Avenue, Stewart Street, Linden Boulevard and Stone Street.

A car was reported stolen from Lynwood Drive in Valley Stream on the night of July 14.

Tires and Rims were stolen from a car parked on Putney Road in North Valley Stream on July 19.

A laptop was reportedly stolen from a car parked on Cameron Street in Elmont on the night of July 14.

Other Thefts/ Larcenies

A GPS unit was reportedly stolen from a car parked on Jennings Avenue in Lakeview on the night of July 13. Another went missing from a vehicle on Monroe Street in West Hempstead on July 16.

A number of items were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked on Lincoln Avenue in West Hempstead on July 12.

A bicycle went missing on July 17 from a detached garage on North Grove Street in Valley Stream that was reportedly left open. Another bicycle was stolen from the backyard of a home on Madison Street in Franklin Square on July 16.

Lawn lights went missing from a home on Steele Street in Elmont on the night of July 14.

Criminal Mischief

An unknown person reportedly threw a rock through a window of an office on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream between July 15 and July 18. Two panes were shattered and the person who filed the complaint found a rock inside the building.

A homeowner on Surrey Commons in Lynbrook returned from a vacation to find the side door of her house had sustained damage while she was away July 5 to July 11.

A woman living on Rosegold Street in Franklin Square reported that an unknown suspect had inflicted damage on her vehicle while it was parked overnight on July 13 to July 14.

A man on Horton Road in Valley Stream reported that several pieces of his fence were broken on July 16.

The owner of a vehicle parked on Essex Road in Elmont between July 15 and July 17 reported that an unknown person caused a crack in her car’s rear driver’s side window .
