Crime Watch: Illegal Alcohol Sales Arrests, Burglaries

BURGLARIES

A burglary was reported in West Hempstead on April 29 at a location on Arthur Street.

A home on Theodora Street in Franklin Square was burglarized on April 25.

PROHIBITED SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

Nassau County POP/PEP officers conducted a Project 21 detail targeting the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors on April 25 at West Hempstead Beverage in West Hempstead and the Getty gas station in Franklin Square.  An undercover Police Agent under the age of 21 entered both convenience stores and at each one, purchased an alcoholic beverage without being asked to present identification of age, according to police. This resulted in the arrests of Nicholas Milbank, of Elmont, an employee at the Getty station, and Ismael Martinez-Munoz, of Hempstead, who was working at West Hempstead Beverage.

UNAUTHORIZED CRIMINAL PRACTICE

In response to community complaints, Nassau County Police's Narcotics/Vice Squad along with POP/PEP Officers conducted an investigation on April 25 into an illegal massage parlor on Central Avenue in Valley Stream. It resulted in the arrests of Xianghua Li, of Flushing, Chunzi Zhang and Xiang Quan.

GRAND LARCENIES

Two cars were stolen in Valley Stream on April 24. One had been parked on St. Terrace Place and the other on Foster Avenue.

A vehicle was also stolen in Elmont on April 24 while parked on John Avenue. Another car, which had been parked on Johnson Avenue in Elmont, was stolen between April 26 and April 27.

An unknown suspect broke the front driver's side window of a vehicle that had been parked on Martens Avenue in Valley Stream on April 28, and stole a Macbook laptop from inside the car.

Tires and rims were stolen off of two vehicles, one parked on Claflin Boulevard in Franklin Square and another on Werns Avenue in Elmont, between April 24 and April 28.

LARCENIES/OTHER THEFTS

A victim on Alton Road in Franklin Square reported a larceny from an automobile that occurred between April 23 and April 24. There were no signs of forced entry.

An unknown suspect entered a vehicle parked on Locustwood Street in Elmont between April 24 and April 25 and removed loose change.

A victim on Covert Avenue in Floral Park reported that he left his vehicle parked in his driveway on the night of April 25 and when he went to go to work the next morning, he noticed the car was ransacked and property missing.

An unknown person removed clothing from a vehicle parked on Propp Avenue in Franklin Square between April 27 and April 28.

The chain to the gate at the Gulf Service Station on Merrick Road in Valley Stream was cut by unknown means sometime between April 28 and April 29 and three scrap transmissions were missing.

Property was stolen on April 26 from an unlocked vehicle parked on Reed Avenue in Elmont.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A victim reported that an unknown suspect placed to nails in one of her vehicle's tires sometime between April 20 and April 27 while the car was parked on Harrison Avenue in Franklin Square.

While inside her vehicle, which was parked on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminster Road in West Hempstead on April 27, a victim reported that an unknown male suspect broke the rear glass window on the passenger's side by unknown means. He then fled northbound on Westminster Road.

Between April 25 and April 27, an unknown Suspect broke the driver's side sideview mirror of a car that had been parked on New York Avenue in West Hempstead.
