East Rockaway Man Arrested For Multiple Attempted Burglaries

Peter DeJesus has been charged with two counts of 3rd degree attempted burglary.

An East Rockaway man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to break into a local convenience store multiple times.

Police said that Peter DeJesus, 37, of Scranton Ave., attempted to break into the Village Convenience Store, located at 8 Centre Ave., three times by trying to break the front glass door.

DeJesus tried to gain entry into the store on Tuesday at 8 p.m. and 11:13 p.m. as well as Sunday at 12 a.m., and was caught on the surveillance camera, police said.

DeJesus was recognized as a regular customer at the store, according to police.  He was arrested at his residence Wednesday and is being charged with two counts of 3rd degree attempted burglary and was arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
