Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Lakeview Church

Four local fire departments fight 4 a.m. blaze at Church of God in Jesus Christ.

An overnight blaze caused extensive damage to a church on Jefferson Avenue in Lakeview Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the Church of God in Jesus Christ just after 4 a.m. and found flames and heavy smoke pouring from the one story building.

Companies from Lakeview, West Hempstead, Malverne and Rockville Centre were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes, but the church still suffered significant damage.
