Around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Allen Street between Ocean Avenue and Charles Street.

Lynbrook Police were among the first on scene and were reporting smoke showing from the residence. When Lynbrook Fire Chief Edward Hynes arrived on scene, he was met by the same smoke condition and then transmitted the signal ten – working fire.

With this transmission, Rockville Centre was notified to respond as the FAST team, and within minutes, Ladder 447 was on scene. At least two lines were stretched off of first due [Vulcan] Engine 422 – with one going into operation.

Lynbrook Ladder 427 was the first truck company on scene and took to the front of the home. Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the first floor fire inside of the two family home.

East Rockaway helped to provide stand by coverage during the operation. The Nassau County Fire Marshal responded to the scene to conduct an investigation as to how the fire began.

Nobody was injured.
