Irene Sets Small House Fire in Malverne

Hurricane Irene knocked down trees and power lines, causing a home in the village to catch fire Sunday. Malverne firefighters respond.

In the midst of caused by Hurricane Irene, the Malverne Volunteer Fire Department also responded to a small house fire at a home in the village.

Smoke was filling this house on Ocean Avenue near Utterby Road when firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 9:20 a.m. Sunday morning.
