Lakeview, West Hempstead Fire Districts to Present Budgets

Lakeview and West Hempstead are among the many districts throughout Long Island that will be holding mandatory public hearings Tuesday night to present their proposed budgets for 2012.

The West Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department will hold its hearing at 7:30 p.m. tonight at their headquarters on Hempstead Turnpike and Lakeview at its firehouse on Woodfield Road at 8 p.m.

Fire districts throughout Long Island are trying to keep spending at a minimum this year, Newsday reports, with about 70 percent proposing budgets with less than a 2 percent increase and the rest coming in flat or below their current spending plans.
