Malverne PD: Malverne Teen Drove Drunk with Three Flat Tires

The following information was supplied by the Malverne Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • On June 15 at 3:08 a.m., a Port Jefferson Station man was driving west on Rider Avenue in Malverne when he collided with another vehicle traveling north on Hempstead Avenue. The operator of the vehicle failed a field sobriety test, was placed under arrest by two Malverne police officers and transported to Nassau County Police Headquarters for further testing and processing. At approximately 5:19 a.m., the defendant blood alcohol content was found to be over twice the legal limit. The defendant was arraigned that morning at First District Court.
  • On June 21 at 4:29 a.m., an 18-year-old Malverne man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by two Malverne police officers. A female caller reported seeing a white Volkswagen travelling west on Rider Avenue in the Village of Malverne with three flat tires and extensive damage to the driver's side of the vehicle. The above officers located the vehicle on Gates Avenue and began a field investigation. The officers determined that the subject was possibly operating the motor vehicle while in an impaired state. The operator was placed under arrest and transported to Nassau County Police department for further testing and processing. The subject was held for arraignment at Nassau County First District Court.

  • On June 25, a Malverne resident from Woods Avenue reported they were the victim of identity theft. An unknown person(s) had attempted to purchase items on the Internet using their Paypal account. The Malverne Police Department is investigating.
