Robert King attempted to steal money, but came away with only a bottle of Gatorade

He came for the money — but left only with a Gatorade.

An armed gunmen allegedly held up an employee at C & R Stationery Store on Union Avenue in Lynbrook on Aug. 26.

One day later Fifth Squad detectives arrested Robert King, 19, at his Lynbrook home.

According to Fifth Squad detectives, King, adorning a pink jumpsuit, white wig and a ladies handbag, entered the store at about 1:30 p.m., took out a gun and demanded money. Police said the victim, a female employee, could not open the register. The subject then stole a Gatorade drink, jumped on a bike and fled northbound on Union Avenue.

"We're treating it very seriously," Detective Sgt. Anthony Repalone said when police were searching for a suspect.

King was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and was arraigned on Aug. 28 in First District Court in Hempstead.
