Pedestrian Killed on Parkway in Malverne

Police say at least two vehicles struck a Brooklyn man who was walking on the Southern State Sunday.

A 36-year-old Brooklyn man was killed early Sunday after he was struck by at least two vehicles while walking in the center lane of the Southern State Parkway in Malverne, according to New York State Police.

Jermaine Whitsell, was struck around 2:30 a.m. on May 20 while standing in the center lane of the westbound Southern State Parkway near exit 17, NYS Trooper Frank Bandiero told Patch.

"He was struck by a motorcycle and atleast on car," he said.

The drivers stopped to report the incident. Until toxicology reports are released, Bandiero says, it is not known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
