Sending all my love to the little girl's family, so awfully sad. :( Prayers for the driver and her family too, an unimaginable horror to live with. I pray they all find the healing they need in time. <3

This is my Professor's daughter's best friend (14 years old). I got an email saying she was hit by a car and killed on a bike so the funeral was today and she had a substitute for us. Very sad to hear this happen. Too young. #PedestriansHaveRightOfWay

All of our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the girl’s family. This is tragic for the victim, her family, and the driver. Lots of prayers going out to everyone involved.

May her family know no more sorrow. I can't imagine how profoundly they must be feeling this loss. I hope the Town of Hempstead takes some action and puts a traffic control device there. Many cyclists of all ages use that intersection to access Hempstead Lake State Park, and it was just a matter of time before something this horrific occurred.
