Police: Woman Thrown to the Ground, Robbed Outside Bank

A woman was robbed outside a Chase Bank on Merrick Road in Valley Stream on Monday evening, Nassau County Police said.

The 56-year-old woman was approached at 5:33 p.m. Monday by a male subject from behind in the parking lot of the bank and thrown to the ground, police said. The subject then ripped her pocketbook, containing cash, credit cards and an Iphone, from her grasp, and then fled northbound on Fletcher Ave. and then down State St., according to police.

The victim, who suffered scratches on her fingers and wrist, refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The suspect is described by police as a male black in his late teens, 5’7” tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. No further description is available, police said. 

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
