Cops seek public's help in catching subject that threatened, robbed victim.

Police seeking man in connection with Lynbrook robbery

Nassau police are still searching for a man who allegedly robbed another man at on Broadway in Lynbrook on Aug. 21.   
   
Police say the victim was meeting with a person who had expressed interest in buying the victim's HTC Hero cell phone via Craigslist. But when the two met in front of 120 Broadway, police said, the subject told the victim that he had a handgun and demanded the phone. Police say the victim complied, and the subject fled the scene in a tan Toyota Camry being driven by another male subject. The victim was not harmed.
   
The first subject is described as a male Hispanic in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5'6" tall, with a stocky build and black curly hair. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and tan pants, according to police. No description was given of the driver.
    
Fifth Squad detectives are asking that anyone with information about the robbery to call 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Assault

On Aug. 20 at 9:30 p.m., a 37-year-old Elmont man was assaulted during a soccer game at Sportime, located at 175 Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

Criminal Mischief

Police say $450 worth of damage was done to a 2004 Nissan parked on Freer Street in Lynbrook sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 22. The vehicles doors and door lock were damaged, police said.

Larceny

— An Apple iPhone4 was reported stolen on Sunrise Highway at 2 p.m. on Aug. 23.

— Police reported that $750 worth of aluminum doors and assorted scrap metal was stolen from a store on Merrick Road in Lybrook. The theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 24.
