Suspect Tries to Lure Girl into Car in East Rockaway

Police investigating incident that occurred Thursday on First Avenue.

Police say a man made several attempts Thursday to lure a 15-year-old girl into his car in East Rockaway.

According to detectives with Nassau County Police's Fourth Squad, the girl was walking on First Avenue when she was approached around 9:20 p.m. by an unknown white or Hispanic male who was driving a four-door black sedan.

The suspect made several attempts to convince the victim to get into the car, but then drove away when he noticed she was using her cell phone. There were no injuries to report.

The Fourth Squad is investigating the incident. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
