Two Men Electrocuted Washing Windows at Bank of America

Incident leaves them both hospitalized with burn injuries.

Two men were electrocuted early Saturday morning while they were preparing to wash windows at  on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

According to police the two men, Nicholas Genovese, 58, of Staten Island, was holding 40-foot washing pole at the top of a ladder while  Alan Weinberg, 64, of Long Beach was standing on the ground holding the bottom of the pole. A gust of wind blew the pole into a power line, causing serious injuries to both men.

When Lynbrook Police and Fire personnel arrived, Weinberg was in cardiac arrest. They initiated CPR and regained a heartbeat.

Weinberg was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where he was stabilized then transferred to Nassau University Medical Center Burn Unit for treatment of second and third degree burns to his hands and feet. He is in critical condition.

Genovese was transported directly to Nassau University Medical Center where he was admitted to the Burn Unit for treatment of second and third degree burns. He is in stable condition.
