Two Men Hit by SUV on Merrick Road

Relatives transported to local hospitals.

Two men were struck by an SUV near the intersection of Merrick Road and John Street at 9 p.m. on Thursday.

According to Lynbrook Fire Department 1st Assistant Chief Anthony DeCarlo, the men were relatives — one man in his 30s and the other in his 20s. The younger man suffered neck and back injuries and was transported to the trauma unit at South Nassau Communities Hospital. The other man had a leg injury, and was treated locally.

Lynbrook police and ambulances from Nassau County and East Rockaway were also on the scene. Eastbound traffic on Merrick Road was temporarily closed while emergency crews tended to the victims.
