Assemblymen Celebrate Malverne Marching Band Champs

Curran and Ra honor Pride of Malverne High School with pizza party.

The Pride of Malverne High School marching band continues to celebrate its second consecutive state championship.

NYS Assemblymen Brian Curran and Edward Ra visited the high school on Feb. 3 and threw a pizza party for the students to recognize their back-to-back titles. They were joined by Malverne Schools Superintendent James Hunderfund, band Director Erin Lynch, Assistant Director Glen Johnson, Color Guard Director Mike Maraia and Percussion Coordinator Michael Messina.

The Pride of Malverne won the New York State Championship on Oct. 30, capping off an undefeated season. This was Malverne's third title in the last five years, but their first win at the higher Small School 2 division, where they competed against larger, more experienced marching bands.
