Section of Woodfield Road Will Get Facelift

Hempstead Town Board approves streetscape project.

One section of Woodfield Road in Lakeview will soon be getting a much-needed makeover.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby and the Town Board approved a bid Wednesday to begin work on streetscape improvements near the intersection of Woodfield Road and Bee Gee Court.

The streetscape project will include the installation of brick-paved walkways and Victorian street lights. The improvements will be made on the east side of Woodfield Road, in front of a cluster of businesses near the intersection of Bee Gee Court, which includes a Chinese take-out restaurant, Woodfield Mini Mart and a vacant building.

“Neighbors and business owners can enjoy the benefits of streetscaping projects in our communities,” Murray said. “These enhancements help beautify our neighborhoods and support local home values.”

“We are excited to embark on this new beautification project in Lakeview,” Goosby said. “The new appearance of this portion of Woodfield Avenue will be positive for the businesses and for the neighbors.”

The bid was awarded to H&A Landscape of Long Island, Inc., which was the lowest bidder at $85,000, according to the Town of Hempstead. Construction is expected to begin in late April.

“We are confident that once the work is complete, neighbors can enjoy a newly constructed, beautified section of their community,” Murray said.
