Senior Councilman Santino to Hold Town Hall Meeting in East Rockaway

The meeting takes place on Wednesday, April 25 at Village Hall.

Hempstead Town Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino and East Rockaway Mayor Francis Lenahan are jointly hosting a for residents of East Rockaway and Bay Park. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the East Rockaway Village Hall.

Senior Councilman Santino and representatives from many Town of Hempstead departments will assemble with Mayor Lenahan and village department heads to discuss any issues concerning East Rockaway/Bay Park residents.

“Input from residents is essential in maintaining an effective representative government,” said Senior Councilman Santino. “Working with your mayor, Fran Lenahan, I am encouraging direct communication between residents, town and village officials. It points us in the right direction for serving the needs of the community.”

Mayor Lenahan said they are looking forward to co-hosting the meeting.

"I urge all village residents to make use of this forum that encourages direct communication between your government and you," Lenahan said.

“In the past, these town hall meetings have been the genesis of many improvements in the East Rockaway/Bay Park community and I look forward to hearing the suggestions of our local neighbors," Santino said.

I for one want the outflow pipe in Baypark extended into the Atlantic Ocean. Pumping millions of gallons of sewage, a day, into the local waterways is an affront to every resident in town and hurts the fishing industry. Residents there have to deal with huge fishkills, odors, and life-threatening waterborne bacteria. And Mr. Santino, we had shellfish harvesting areas in the Town of Hempstead closed by the DEC. Stop passing the buck. Sue Nassau County, do something!
