While there has been chatter about a pilot parking program coming to the Bellmore and Merrick railroad stations, the Town of Hempstead said that nothing is set in stone yet.
Currently, the proposed program currently states that about 10 percent of the parking would be restricted to Town of Hempstead permit holders in order to free up spaces for commuters who frequently travel to the city. The permit would cost residents $3 annually.
The Bellmore and Merrick train stations were targeted for the program because there have been no regulations on parking and no Town of Hempstead passes necessary, so people from other communities head to these lots and hop on the train.
Whether it is because they can catch the express or because it is cheaper to come from the Bellmore-Merrick zone instead of further east, these parkers leave little spots available for residents.

Billy Dean's in Bellmore Applies for New Cabaret License
Billy Dean, owner of Billy Dean's Showtime Cafe in Bellmore, went before the Hempstead Town Board of Appeals Wednesday in an attempt to renew his cabaret license and off-street parking variance, both of which expired March 28.
No decision was made by the board Wednesday, but several residents spoke out both for and against the establishment.
"If this license is not renewed, 17 people will lose their jobs," co-owner Rori Gordon said, said. "It was renewed with no problems before and we will not let you down."

Re: the issue discussed "we can not read the small print in the legal section", my guess is this application was not advertised enough for them to find it anywhere to know enough to attend. A half page article in Bellmore Life, two stories in Newsday, 1500 letters sent to the residents, News 12, online @ The Town of Hempstead website, two, maybe three articles on the Patch. I am guessing the oppenents were expecting a car service to pick them up and drive them to the hearing via a personal phone call from Mr. Dean to invite them.

Read the June document.
Let's disect, and inject facts. "clearly stated an inspector found nudity" 1 summons in 2003, challenged, and dismissed as unfounded. "proves that there has been nudity all along", letter from KM office indicating there has been no violation of permit or TOH laws regarding nudity. "those violations were dismissed, that only means that Billy Dean is connected and knows people.", now you implicate the NC courts of being complicit in a cover up."Billy Dean and David Weiss (Chairman of the BZA) are both on the Bellmore Chamber of Commerce", all business that are members of BCOC have been helped by the BZA to skirt town codes. "Ella Stevens wrote a letter of recommendation", it was a letter of REFERENCE, not recommendation. "If the BZA votes in favor of Billy Dean's license renewal, it will be with the approval of Kate Murray", KM has been an outspoken voice in opposition to both business', now she will endorse? "application for the strip club in Wantagh", this business has not opened, how can it be anything? "He is applying for a cabaret license, which does NOT allow erotic dancing, let alone nudity" He is not applying for anything, this is a renewal of an existing permit that has been granted twice in the past 10 yrs, without objection, until now, and by people who know nothing. NO NUDITY HAS EVER BEEN FOUND,

this is a forum after all and the more dissenting opinions, the better.
But, If someone makes 40 posts in response to only 27 other posts with contrary viewpoints, then that is not, mathematically speaking, responding to every post. It is more like responding twice to every post, or, more accurately, responding three times to every two posts. The important statistic to be gleaned from the scorecard I posted is that, regardless of the volume of repetitive recitals of ersatz "facts", there are only five (count 'em...1, 2, 3, 4, 5) proponents of renewing the Showtime Cafe cabaret permit, versus six (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) people posting other than favorable comments about the pending permit renewal application for the North Bellmore business which bills itself as the "...Number One Strip Club". Will the Board's ultimate decision follow suit with this statistic: game, set, and match?
"I can not tell you how offended I was that my BZA allowed a strip club owner to conduct a 10+ minute rant about me at the hearing on May 23. The BZA allowed her to make defamatory comments towards me and the disturbing part was, by the chairmans own admission, ti had no place of relevance to the hearing. This, in my opinion, can only be to mask a renewal of the strip club owners lecense. Our BZA let these strip club owners supporters make negative comments about our children, stating all the problems in the area where the strip club is located is because of "those spoiled brat kids from Bellmore" They actually said that. Our BZA knows that these individuals from Suffolk COunty are operating a strip club in Bellmore across from one of our elementary schools, our public library, a place of worship and within feet of houses with children. In my opinion there is no way, by code and law, they should renew this license. From what I know, these strip club owners have no right to this lecense. Our appointed BZA has to give them a Special Exception and/or variance inorder for them to operate. As I said at the hearing, I don't care how many people the strip club owners provide "free drink and food" to obtain signatures of support. Our BZA has to protect our children and the character of our communities. They must think why this has gone on and correct a mistake." Unbelievable, to say the least.
