Where Are Power Outages in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook?

Let us know what streets are still without power?

More than one week after Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast and knocked out power for nearly 1 million Long Islanders, there are still hundreds of Long Island Power Authority customers in Malverne, Lynbrook, West Hempstead and Lakeview in the dark.

Patch is compiling a list of exactly what parts of Malverne, West Hempstead, Lynbrook and Lakeview are waiting for power. (This list has been shared with local village, town, county and state elected officials, as well as LIPA.)

Use the comments section below to post the name of a street, business or intersection you know is still without electricity, and if you've heard from LIPA yet.

Here's what we have so far. (For safety reasons, do not list specific addresses just street names and cross streets.)

Apparently Wisconsin power guys are working in Malverne. Is this true? Can we get just one guy to come to Jennings Ave between Wadleigh and Lincoln Ave. and flip a breaker on? 5 families would be very grateful!

If you reported that power was out on your street and it's since been restored, can you please let me know so I can update the above list? (Want to make sure the focus is on those who still need help.)

Gina: Have you contacted fire/police departments about that in addition to LIPA?
Allison November 08, 2012 at 08:58 PM
Still no resolution for Peterhoff from the dead end up almost to 7-11. A bunch of LIPA trucks arrived yesterday as the storm started and then left without solving anything. Paul Jessup of Malverne DPW was there to help them (he is so kind and gave me some updates). Is a timeline and an outage code claim number too much to ask? They could at least publish the order they will be following...

FYI hunt down the out of state workers, ask them yourselves if they can come by after they are finished. Especially if it is just resetting a tripped transformer. We did it, they came they fixed it within minutes. Personally the DPW should be directing the operation, get a working list of all outages, direct the process. LIPA sure as hell aren't doing it.

Gina JeanCharles November 09, 2012 at 05:28 PM
