New Color Combinations To Try This Year!

Before you shop for Spring/Summer 2012, learn about the new trendy colors for the season and how to wear it!

Spring 2012 is offering a cocktail of colors. Over the next few weeks, retailers will start to dish out the array of bright colors. They may, at first, seem intimating, but fear not.  The colors are actually quite stunning, and most of all, flattering!

Tangerine Tango - not just orange, but with a slight red undertone, this color is going to be everywhere from makeup to handbags, shoes to dresses.  Team it with neutrals, like Driftwood or Summer White, or other bold colors, like Cabaret. This color is also the "it" color for 2012!

Solar Power - You maybe thinking, “It’s Yellow…” but it’s the kind of yellow that looks insanely chic with black and white. It’s a great Sporty color as well, and you’ll see it this season with all the sport inspired looks.

Bellflower - Like a deeper, more mature version of Lilac, this is a stunning purple, and quite flattering on most skin-tones.  Its dreamy, literally, and I love it with black, metallic colors, as well as white.

Cabaret - Love this pink color. It’s girly, flirty and it’ll make you want to paint your toes.  Combine the color with neutrals, like Driftwood or even black, or wear it with Tangerine, Margarita or Sodalite Blue, to name a few.

Sodalite Blue - A cross between Cobalt and Midnight Blue, it reminds me so much of Elizabeth Taylor or Kate Middleton.  Consider this your new neutral; it’s a bit brighter than Navy. It’s deep and rich, and really compliments greens and yellows, while intensifying pinks, purples and red. This is one color that you can wear to work and for play.

Margarita - Not just a tasty beverage, this limey green is back.  After researching the color, it carries a very 70’s vibe.  Modernize the look by trying bold color combinations, like adding black and white, or yellow. It looks charming with all types of pinks.

Sweet Lilac - if pink and purple had a baby this would be it.  Very feminine and I love dresses this color.  Wear the color with white, or team it up with brighter colors like oranges or shocking pinks. Yes, you can go that far.

Driftwood - Earthy, without being dowdy or boring.  Frankly, it’s a great color for the Spring/Summer.  It will work well with the whole “Safari in Africa” trend that will take place this year.  Consider this one of your summer-time neutrals.  Expect suitings and dresses in this color, mixed with an array of colors from bright to light.

Cockatoo - it’s a little aqua, a little tropical, and whole lot of fun.  It’s like taking a vacation- you’re bound to feel relaxed yet still fashion forward when you wear it. Shockingly enough, it looks wonderful with yellow, white, and certain types of blue.  Just imagine the ocean; when you dress, use those colors to inspire you.

Starfish - Along with Driftwood, this color is a great neutral to the bold trends we will see this year.  It looks exceptionally stunning with a brighter color.  Try it with Tangerine, or more sophisticated look, try it with Sodalite Blue.
