Board Appoints New Principal to Chestnut Street School

The West Hempstead Board of Education unanimously approved Michelle Notti to the vacant principal position at the district's Kindergarten center.

Chestnut Street School has a new principal. The West Hempstead Board of Education unanimously approved the probationary appointment of Michelle Notti to the vacant position at its special business meeting Tuesday night.

The position opened up in August, when to serve as principal of West Hempstead High School. It was announced in late June that Frank Viterittii, the high school’s former principal, would not be returning to the district in the fall.

Superintendent John Hogan congratulated Notti, who was sitting in the audience at the meeting, and welcomed her to the community.

Notti comes from the North Bellmore School District, where she worked for more than 20 years, most recently as the assistant principal of Saw Mill Road Elementary School. She has taught Kindergarten, and Grades 3, 4 and 6.

Her exact start date has yet to be determined, but Hogan projects that it should be around Oct. 24. He added, “We are very excited to have her.”
