The West Hempstead school district has a chance to win a $25,000 technology grant plus other great prizes that could benefit students if one faculty member takes home the title of "Best Teacher in America."

Principal Dan Rehman has nominated teacher Cathieann Rowland in the contest, sponsored by Worth Avenue Group. The school who has the teacher with the most nominations wins the grand prize - a $25,000 technology grant, an iPad and 30 iPod Touch units. Five runners-up will get second place prizes, which include a $1,000 grant for technology and an iPad.

All you have to do to help West Hempstead win is to click on this link, select "New York," "West Hempstead school district," "West Hempstead High School" and write in "Cathieann Rowland" on the form. Vote daily from now until March 31.

Given the financial constraints the school district, like others in the area, is and the economy, a grant like this could greatly benefit students.
