Dreams on Display at Malverne Homecoming Parade [Photos]

Malverne school community shows off pride and aspirations during 2012 homecoming festivities.

Ocean Avenue was once again filled with orange and blue Saturday afternoon as the Malverne School District celebrated Homecoming 2012.

But in addition to the usual display of school pride, this year, students also used their creativity to demonstrate what inspires them to succeed -- their dreams. Maurice W. Downing Primary School, Davison Avenue Secondary School, Howard T. Herber Middle School and Malverne High School's freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors each created a float depicting this year's theme, "Dare to Dream."

The floats made their way through the streets of Malverne accompanied by Malverne's state-championship marching band, its middle and high school cheerleaders, the Malverne Wildcats, Girl Scouts, the Lakeview NAACP, faculty, school board members and the Malverne Volunteer Fire Department. The lively procession was greeted by enthusiastic fans who cheered and waved banners showing their support for Malverne's Mules.
