Malverne, Lynbrook, West Hempstead Cancel Tuesday Classes [Updated]

More school closings announced as Hurricane Sandy barrels toward Long Island.

While all area schools were closed Monday, the Malverne, West Hempstead and  Lynbrook school districts announced this morning that they have also canceled classes and after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30, too.

Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne, St. Thomas the Apostle and the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County schools in West Hempstead, Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook also made the decision to close Tuesday.

Hurricane Sandy is roughly 400 miles south-east of Long Island and isn't expected to hit until Monday night, so the worst of the Category 1 storm has yet to hit the local area.
