Meet Marion Street School's New Principal

Theresa Macchia, formerly of the Commack School District, replaces Barbara Moore as principal of Lynbrook elementary school.

Theresa Macchia has officially been appointed to serve as the new principal of Lynbrook’s Marion Street School. She replaces Barbara Moore, who retired at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

Macchia most recently served as assistant principal of the Mandracchia-Sawmill Intermediate School in the Commack Union Free School District from 2007 to 2012. She also served as assistant principal of the Burr Intermediate School, also in Commack, from 2005 to 2007, and was the lead elementary science teacher for grades K-5 in the Commack district in the 2004-05 school year. She began her tenure in the Commack district in 1996 as a teacher at Burr, where she went on to serve as a teacher of gifted and talented students before becoming assistant principal. She was named a Commack Teacher of the Year recipient and a Commack PTA Founder’s Day recipient. Macchia completed her student teaching at Lynbrook’s West End School in 1995.

After receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Adelphi University,.Macchia obtained her school district administrator certification from Dowling College.
