West Hempstead School Board Agenda, Draft Budget: March 6

See what the Board of Education will be discussing at tonight's special business meeting and budget workshop.

So far, for the West Hempstead school district have focused on the general issues that will be impacting revenue and expenses including the new tax cap, losses in state aid and increases in salary and other benefits. But tonight the district will start talking actual numbers.

The West Hempstead Board of Education will convene tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the video conference room for a special business meeting that will include a workshop on the budget.

They will discuss what the district's allowable tax levy will be under the new tax cap law ($41,062,979, or 3.06 percent) and will scrutinize the latest draft of the proposed 2012-2013 budget, looking only at non-instructional items. This includes equipment, supplies, insurance, transportation facilities and maintenance and fees.
