Malverne Athletes Earn Team Superlative Awards in Soccer, Football

Kellenberg High School announces that Malverne residents and Kellenberg freshmen James Boffardi and Patrick Gioino have both earned team superlative awards for their outstanding efforts on the soccer field.

Boffardi won the Most Improved Player award for the junior varsity soccer team. Each season, the coaches of all of the Kellenberg teams choose one athlete who stands out for working hard to improve themselves in their chosen sport.

"Boffardi‘s effort over the course of the season has set him apart as an athlete worthy of recognition for his improvement," said Brian Gilmartin, Kellenberg Memorial High School.

Gioino was awarded the Kellenberg Freshman Football Commitment Award for his outstanding effort and devotion to the freshman football team. Kellenberg coaches pick one player from the team each year who has "demonstrated remarkable commitment to the team through their hard work and actions at practice and in competition."

"[Gioino] has earned the award through his hard work and dedication to the team," Gilmartin said.
