West Hempstead Football Rolls in Season Opener

West Hempstead outscored Clarke 49-0 in the first three quarters.

West Hempstead Football started off its season on the right foot with a 56-21 win over visiting Clarke on Thursday.

Bruce Gibbs ran for 130 yards and four touchdowns to lead West Hempstead, who had a 49-0 lead after three quarters. The Rams showed some fight in the fourth though, as they outscores West Hempstead 21-7. 

Enrique McFarland added 134 yards and a touchdown on eight carries for West Hempstead. Vinny Messina led them with six tackles. McFarland exploded for a 79-yard touchdown run on just the third play from scrimmage.

Anthony Beaubrun added 67 yards for West Hempstead on just three carries.
