Town of Hempstead Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino was proud to join officers and members of the East Rockaway Yacht Club for the annual Blessing of the Fleet.
"It's the official start of the boating season and the summer," he said.
Joined by local dignitaries and the officers and members of the East Rockaway Yacht Club, the ceremony included of the raising of the club, town and county flags atop the club's yardarm.
Also joining Santino were East Rockaway Trustee Ed Corrado, Deputy Mayor Bruno Romano, Town of Hempstead Commissioner of Conservation & Waterways Ron Masters, Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin, East Rockaway Trustee Theresa Gaffney, Mayor Fran Lenahan, Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino, East Rockaway Yacht Club Commander Bruce Abbate, Secretary Len Dornbush, member Hank Menze, Rear Commander John Boha, Vice Commander Dean Cascio and Treasurer Joseph Darragh, who laid a wreath in honor of the Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines in past and present service in America's armed services.
