Both Malverne and West Hempstead each have their own group geared toward improving the quality of life of each community, hosting engaging events that bring residents together and raising funds for local projects.

Through membership dues and fundraisers, the civic associations have supported beautification, special projects and other worthy causes over the years.

In Malverne, the civic has helped promote local merchants, coordinate tap water testing after residents raised concerns and provided various avenues for residents to have fun and foster relationships through "meet and greets," wine tastings and holiday celebrations.

The West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association played a vital role in rallying residents to demand the closure of the seedy Courtesy Hotel. They also host forums to allow the community to ask questions to local officials and law enforcement officers, sponsor activities for neighborhood kids and award scholarship money to deserving West Hempstead students.
