Rescue Cats and Dogs Find Homes in Malverne

Courageous Cats and Fur Babies hold fundraiser and adoption event at Malverne historical house.

Puppies, cats, bunnies, goats and a tortoise were among the animals hanging out at the on April 29.

The event brought together adoptable pets and animal lovers, while raising funds for Courageous Cats and Fur Babies, two local rescue groups. The backyard of the Joseph L. Landers Memorial Restoration home was filled with vendors selling pet-themed products, baked goods and chances to win more than 20 raffle baskets, with the proceeds going to the two rescue organizations.

Courageous Cats, based in Malverne, also brought many of its adoptable felines to the event, in hopes of finding good homes for them, while Fur Babies, of East Rockaway, did the same for its rescue dogs. Some matches were made that day. To learn more about these organizations and its adoptable animals, click on their names above.

Andre Ricaud, of Party Pets, the owner of Malverne Mel, also brought several of his animals including sheep, goats, bunnies, a tortoise, and a chicken. No, they weren't up for adoption, but many kids enjoyed playing with them in the small petting zoo that was set up.

The day also included free dog treats and consultants with a veterinarian, a silent photography auction, which proceeds also going to the causes, and Father Frank Parisi, of , stopped by to bless the animals.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
