Nassau County Executive Candidate Tom Suozzi participated in International Coastal Cleanup Day at Hempstead Lake Park in West Hempstead on Saturday, Sept. 21.
This event was part of the 28th annual New York State Beach Cleanup, in cooperation with the American Littoral Society and sponsored by the Natural Heritage Trust.
Suozzi, along with volunteers, worked on the area between Northeast and Northwest Ponds. Over the past few years, volunteers have cleaned up over 500 cubic yards of debris along the shoreline of Northwest Pond.
