W.H. Scout Earns Highest Honor For Fighting Obesity

Kaleim Antonio Reid, a West Hempstead Boy Scout, receives Eagle Scout Award.

West Hempstead's Kaleim Antonio Reid was beaming last month as he received the highest honor a Boy Scout can attain - the Eagle Scout award.

To earn the title, Reid put together a project that supported First Lady Michele Obama's Health Awareness Issue, which addresses the problem of childhood obesity. As part of the project he raised funds to renovate an exercise trail at Kennedy Memorial Park in Hempstead to make it more appealing and child-friendly.

In addition to receiving the award at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony held at Uniondale High School, Reid was also presented with a certificate of recognition from Hempstead Town Councilwoman Dorothy L. Goosby.
