4th Annual Charity Softball Game in Lynbrook
The Lynbrook Fire Department vs. the Lynbrook Baptist Church on Saturday, August 24 at Greis Park (Horton Avenue), at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Nassau County Firefighter's Operation Wounded Warrior.
Film Festival in Long Beach
Day 2 of the Long Beach International Film Festival is Friday beginning at 4 p.m. with a series of short independent films. Admission is free (a $5 donation is requested) to the event at the Long Beach Public Library. See details here.
Free "Cinderella" Performance in Ballet and Music
Lumiere Ballet presents a fully staged production of "Cinderella," including music from Rossini's opera by the same name ("La Cenerentolla") Friday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tanner Park Bandshell on Baylawn Avenue, Copiague. For more information see their website here.
Tomato Contest in Jericho Sunday
Hicks Nursery's annual Tomato Contest will be held Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. at their stand on Jericho Turnpike in Westbury. Prizes will be awarded for heaviest tomato, largest circumference, most unusual and tiniest red tomato. Bring your entries; judging begins at 11 am. Details here.
U2 Concert Film at Tilles Center
The Tillis Center on on the LIU campus on Northern Boulevard presents a concert documentary depicting the 1987 North American tour of the iconic rock band, U2. Saturday at 7 p.m.; $10 admission. Details here.
