BELLMORE

Kennedy

Kennedy 45, Great Neck South 30

The Cougars (1-3) were down by a slim margin after three quarters, but a 23-point fourth quarter gave the team its first win of the season over the winless Rebels (0-4). Running back Matt Delbianco, who led the Cougars with 213 yards and two touchdowns, scored his second, a 45-yard run, to put Kennedy ahead 38-30 en route to the victory. Chris Racalbuto added two total touchdowns as well (one pass and one run).

Wantagh 17, Mepham 0

Mepham (3-1) dropped back into a five-way tie for second place in Conference II with a shutout loss against Wantagh (3-1) on the road. The Pirates’ defense played solid, but the Warriors used their own ground game to pull away in the second half with two touchdowns. Kevin Tauriello and crew were shut down on the ground in Mepham's first loss of the season.

EAST MEADOW

Clarke

Seaford 30, Clarke 14

Clarke (1-3) couldn’t follow up its comeback win last week with one this past Saturday against Seaford (2-2). Andrew Iannucci scored a touchdown on the ground and quarterback Michael Martiello threw for a touchdown to John Hess in the effort. Martiello has now accounted for 11 total scores in the four games this season.

East Meadow

East Meadow 56, Uniondale 19

East Meadow (4-0) boasts one of the best offenses in the county thus far, upping their team output to 208 points in its four wins. The Jets poured on 42 points in the second quarter alone on the road at Uniondale (2-2). Quarterback Dylan Curry threw four touchdown passes, three of which went to Robbie Healy, who also added a rushing score and 103 yards. James D’Elia led East Meadow on the ground with 124 yards and two touchdowns in the win. 

FIVE TOWNS

Hewlett

Hewlett 27, Sewanhaka 14

Hewlett (3-1) got it done on both sides of the ball in a win on the road at Sewanhaka (1-3). Sam Martorella had a rushing score and a 65-yard touchdown return and Michael Gray caught a touchdown pass from Zach Richman. Hewlett recorded four interceptions, including two by Jeremy Leguillo and a 48-yard interception return for a score by Dylan Sasson.

Lawrence

Lawrence 46, Glen Cove 26

Lawrence (2-1) defeated Glen Cove (1-2) on the road by a 20-point margin. The Golden Tornadoes totaled 32 points in the second half en route to the big league win. Ryan Fredericks and his younger brother Tyler were the stories of the game as they combined for seven touchdowns.

GARDEN CITY

Garden City 29, Long Beach 14

The Trojans (4-0) pulled away from the Marines (2-2) in the second half behind a school-record 293 rushing yards and three touchdowns from Mark Ellis. Quarterback Mike Comiskey threw for 83 yards and a touchdown in the win. The defense recorded two interceptions, one from Eddie Blatz and another from Rob Savage, to halt a Long Beach comeback attempt.

MALVERNE 

Valley Stream North 34, Malverne 13

Malverne (1-2) fell to visiting VSN (3-1) for their second loss in a row on the young season. Quarterback Malique Merchant threw for two touchdown passes in the effort -- one to Alton Kelly and another to Aaron Hill. Evan Henry was the deciding factor, as Malverne allowed the back to record 282 total yards and four touchdowns. 

MERRICK

Elmont 30, Calhoun 6

Calhoun (2-2) could not get past a tough Elmont (3-1) team in an attempt to extend its two-game win streak. The Colt secondary found trouble, as Spartans quarterback Will Faison threw three touchdown passes. Angelo Di Matteo hit a pair of 30-yard field goals in the second quarter for Calhoun.

MINEOLA

Roosevelt 35, Mineola 18

The Mustangs (1-2) knew they had to stop Roosevelt (4-0) running back Erin Parker to have a chance, but the defense allowed him to rush for 227 yards and three scores en route to a loss at home. Mineola led 18-6 in the third quarter, but Roosevelt scored 29 unanswered points, including 22 in the fourth to win. Tom Breslin and Brian Gaffney each scored on offense, and Craig Weber returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown in the effort.

LEVITTOWN

Division

Division 24, South Side 7

Division (3-1) was led by Joe Vanasco, who totaled 191 yards on 35 rushing attempts and two scores. The Blue Devils went up 17-0 in the first half and didn't look back. The defense, led by Petey Greene with 13 tackles and Jake Gaspari with nine, did not allow any points as the Cyclones' (1-3) lone score came on a kickoff return.

Island Trees

Locust Valley 21, Island Trees 14

Island Trees (1-3) took an early lead over visiting Locust Valley (4-0), but could not hold on for the win. Chris Pascalli and quarterback Kyle Nigro found the end zone with rushing touchdowns for the Bulldogs, but 21 consecutive points given up did the home team in for its second loss in as many weeks.

MacArthur

MacArthur 35, Hempstead 0

The Generals (3-1) blew by visiting Hempstead (0-4) to move into a three-way tie for second place in Conference I. Quarterback Gerard Cunningham went a perfect 7-for-7 for 88 yards and three touchdown passes, all to wide receiver Will Cheshire, who also had an interception on defense. Brett Ellers added 109 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

LONG BEACH

Garden City 29, Long Beach 14

Long Beach (2-2) gave a valiant effort against undefeated Garden City (4-0), but could not stop running back Mark Ellis in the second half. Quarterback Tom Rowley put the Marines ahead in the second quarter, but were outscored 29-6 the rest of the way. Rowley finished with 231 yards passing and a touchdown. Freshman wide receiver Chris Parler hauled in six catches for 187 yards and a score in the effort.

LYNBROOK

Floral Park 7, Lynbrook 0

Lynbrook (3-1) was shut out on the road against a Floral Park (3-1) team that turned up the intensity on defense in a 7-0 win. Luke Spitzer, Rocco Scibelli and the Owls had four drives halted on fourth down, three of which were inside their opponents' 10-yard line. The loss was the first for Lynbrook since early last season. 

ROCKVILLE CENTRE

Division 24, South Side 7

South Side (1-3) did not have an answer for Joe Vanasco and Division (3-1). The Cyclones' lone score came on an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Zach Scaduto late in the first half, as the team could not follow up their first win of the season last week with another in week four.

SEAFORD

Seaford 30, Clarke 14

The Vikings (2-2) got back on track against the Rams (1-3) on the road, collecting a new season-high in points. Joe Richards and Alex Rodriguez each topped the century mark with 105 yards with two scores and 101 yards with one score, respectively. Richards also led on the defensive side with 11 tackles, one sack and one interception.

WANTAGH

Wantagh used a solid ground game to best visiting Mepham, who came into the match-up undefeated. Joe Giardina rushed for 33 yards and a touchdown and Matt Balzano had a team-high 80 yards on the ground. Shaun Charkowick, better known for his solid play on defense, added to the scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter. The shut out win was the second for the Warriors this season.

WEST HEMPSTEAD

West Hempstead 22, East Rockaway 14

Justin Boatwright, who finished with 98 rushing yards, scored a 13-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter run to seal the win for the Rams (4-0) and help the team remain undefeated this season. Quarterback Bruno DeVito threw for two touchdowns against East Rockaway (2-2), one to Tayvon Hall, who also added 79 yards rushing, and one to Danny Sheeler to top the Rocks on the road.
