BELLMORE

Kennedy

Boys Soccer: In a battle of cross-town rivals, Kennedy defeated Mepham at home behind the game's lone goal from Zac Dorushkin in the second half. The score was his first ever as a varsity player as he propelled the Cougars to their second win on the season.

Boys Volleyball: Kennedy fell to visiting Floral Park in four sets in what was a rematch of the 2010 Class A County finals. The Cougars won the opening set, but dropped the final three. The team now has an even 3-3 record on the season.

Boys Badminton: Kennedy fell on the road to Long Beach by a 5-2 final on Tuesday. The Cougars fall to 3-2 on the season.

Girls Tennis: The Lady Cougars dropped a road match to Sewanhaka District by a 5-2 score. Kennedy drops to 1-5 in Conference B-II this season.

Mepham

Boys Soccer: Mepham lost in a tough game to rival Kennedy on Tuesday by a 1-0 score. Mepham has now lost two games in a row after winning three at the end of September and have dropped to a tie for first place in Conference III at 4-3-0.

Boys Volleyball: Mepham fought tough on the road against Valley Stream South, but dropped the match in four sets to fall to a 1-6 record in Conference V this season. The Pirates host Bethpage on Thursday.

Girls Tennis: Mepham nearly pulled out a victory on the road against MacArthur, but fell by a 4-3 score.

EAST MEADOW

Clarke

Boys Volleyball: Clarke defeated Valley Stream North on the road in straight sets, giving up just 24 points combined in the three games.

Girls Volleyball: Clarke came from down 2-1 in the set count to win in five at West Hempstead on Tuesday. Julia Cast led her team with 16 total kills and Kaitlyn Kieser added eight kills and five aces in the win.

East Meadow

Girls Volleyball: The Lady Jets lost their home match Tuesday to Hicksville in four sets. East Meadow won the opening set, but lost the final three to fall to 4-3 in Conference AA-I this season.

Field Hockey: East Meadow lost a home match to Port Washington by a 3-0 score to dropped its record to 2-3-1 overall in Conference II. Kelly Ann Callahan had seven total saves in the effort.

FIVE TOWNS

Hewlett

Girls Soccer: The Lady Bulldogs stepped up on defense to hold onto a scoreless tie against visiting Lynbrook to pull their record to 2-3-3 overall. Goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch had a season-high in saves with 16 against the Lady Owls.

Boys Volleyball: Hewlett fell in straight sets at Roslyn, who is currently in first place in Conference IV. The Bulldogs fall to 0-8 on the season.

Girls Tennis: Hewlett dropped a road match in Port Washington by a 5-2 final score. The Lady Bulldogs now stand at 2-6 on the season in Conference I.

Lawrence

Girls Soccer: Lawrence lost a close game on the road against Sewanhaka by a 2-1 final. Julie Obregon stopped eight shots and the offense added a late goal, but it was not enough as the Golden Tornadoes fall to 2-3-1 overall.

Boys Volleyball: Lawrence fell in straight sets on the road to Jericho on Tuesday. Despite putting up a strong effort in the final set, the Golden Tornadoes fall to a 1-6 record in Conference IV. Ayal Ciobotaru and C.J. Borfitz gave a solid effort in the game.

Girls Tennis: Lawrence had a tough time against Calhoun on the road, dropping the match by a decisive 6-1 margin on Tuesday.

GARDEN CITY 

Boys Volleyball: The Trojans fell in four sets to Great Neck North on the road. The team has found its struggles in Conference V, as it is now 1-5 this season.

Girls Tennis: Garden City nearly defeated a talented Roslyn team on the road, but fell by a 4-3 score. The Lady Trojans, who now fall to 1-7 on the season, were led by the solid play of Morgan Hermann.

MALVERNE 

Boys Soccer: Malverne/East Rockaway lost at home on Tuesday afternoon by a 4-1 score to Lynbrook. Pat McCarty scored the lone goal and Zach Bordini stopped four shots in the losing effort.

Girls Soccer: Malverne/East Rockaway lost a road game at Glen Cove on Tuesday by a 3-1 score. Despite scoring a first half goal from Taylor McGinn, Glen Cove put in three of its own before the 40-minute mark. Kerri Vulpis recorded 18 saves in the loss. 

Girls Volleyball: The girls from Malverne gave a valiant effort against North Shore, but fell in straight sets on Tuesday afternoon in a Conference BC-II matchup. The loss breaks a four-match winning streak for Malverne.

Girls Tennis: Malverne dropped a challenging road match at Uniondale by a 6-1 final score Tuesday.

MERRICK

Girls Tennis: Calhoun won in dominant fashion at home against Lawrence by a 6-1 score Tuesday. The Lady Colts were led by the play of Shelby Behrman and Julie Ciccone to help the team move to 3-4 on the season.

MINEOLA

Girls Volleyball: Mineola cruised to a clean sweep at Carle Place on Tuesday to move to 6-2 in Conference BC-I this season. The girls will take on 3-3 West Hempstead at home on Thursday.

LEVITTOWN

Division

The Division boys soccer team will travel to Lawrence on Wednesday and the girls volleyball team will host Calhoun.

Island Trees           

Girls Soccer: Island Trees edged out West Hempstead on the road to win 2-1. Kristen Breihof scored the second goal for the Lady Dawgs on a penalty kick in the second half. Island Trees is currently ranked No. 14 in the state and is currently in first place in Conference A-II at 8-1-0.

Girls Volleyball: Island Trees defeated Roosevelt on the road in three sets on Tuesday, conceding just 31 total points. Julie Riley and Lauren Ecock led the way for the Lady Dawgs.

MacArthur

Girls Tennis: The Lady Generals edged out visiting Mepham by a 4-3 final at home. The first team doubles of Melissa Slyper and Stephanie Malin picked up the decisive point for the win.

LONG BEACH

Boys Soccer: The Marines snapped a five-game losing skid with a 2-0 win over Westbury at home. Dylan Palacio and Nicholas Suares each put in a goal past Ernesto Arellanes. Long Beach is now 2-5-0 in Conference III this season.

Boys Badminton: Long Beach topped visiting Kennedy by a 5-2 score, led by Matt Rizzo at first singles. The Marines advance to a 4-1 record this season.

LYNBROOK 

Boys Soccer: Michael Milillo was the top player in Lynbrook’s 4-1 win at Malverne/East Rockaway on Tuesday. The senior had a hat trick and Brendan Taldaldi added one more in the decisive win.

Girls Soccer: Lynbrook had a number of opportunities to take a lead against rival Hewlett on Tuesday, but settled for a 0-0 tie in the end. Michelle Cantanno stopped seven shots to help the Lady Owls move their record to 1-2-3 this season.

Girls Tennis: Lynbrook fell in a tough matchup on Tuesday against South Side by a 5-2 score. The Lady Owls are currently in second place at 6-3 overall in Conference B-II, and trail undefeated Wheatley.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE

Girls Tennis: South Side played an exceptional match at home against the second place team in Conference B-II, Lynbrook. The Lady Cyclones won by a 5-2 score, led by Mackenzie Meehan and her doubles partner Kristin Cheslock.

SEAFORD

Girls Volleyball: Seaford swept aside Floral Park on the road in an impressive performance for the 6-0 Lady Vikings. Zulfiya Asquino and Megan Russell combined for 19 kills and five aces in the three games. Jessica Rini also had eight kills to add to the win.

Field Hockey: Seaford collected a 2-0 win over Wheatley at home. Carisa Fraser and Kara Murphy each scored for the Lady Vikings and Diana Rice stopped five Wheatley shots to help the team move to 3-6-0 on the season.

WANTAGH

The Wantagh boys soccer team will be in action on Wednesday against New Hyde Park, the girls volleyball team will host Roslyn and the girls tennis team will play Valley Stream South at home.  

WEST HEMPSTEAD

Girls Soccer: West Hempstead fought to the final whistle against one of the top teams on Long Island in Island Trees. The Lady Rams lost 2-1 to drop their record to 3-3-2 in Conference A-II. Nia Jones scored the lone goal in the effort.

Girls Volleyball: The Lady Rams let one slip away at home against Clarke. The girls lost a great match in five sets on Tuesday to drop to an even 3-3 in Conference BC-I this season.
